- Created and maintained a library of custom UI components for over a dozen clients in React Storybook
- Aided in transitioning and testing core backend and asset migration from Ruby to Webpack
- Troubleshooted and polished various Docker builds for different internal environments
Highlight:
Frontend had always been a challenge and an overwhelming black box for me and being put in the deep end allowed me to learn enough about it not only to apply it but to realize that I actually enjoy it. :)
- Aided in migrating core backend from Ruby 1.8 to 2.3, speeding up app build and response times by ~30%
- Deprecated use of direct DOM manipulation via jQuery in favour of React.js and Superagent in the user authentication and dashboard apps
- Ideated and presented RFC proposal to migrate dev environment to Docker in quarterly company hackathon
- Aided in implementing the now-accepted proposal resulting in a reduced dev on-boarding time from 1 week to 1 day
Highlight: In addition to getting the opportunity to dive deep into Ruby's architecture, I was fortunate enough to have a team that helped me formalize a spur-of-the-moment thought into a proposal that ended up adding value to the company :)
- Implemented a collaborative-filtering based recommendation engine for the video lessons platform in PHP
- Re-worked user-authentication service in favour of using Auth0, Mixpanel and Bootstrap
- Assumed responsibility as interim manager and scrum master for a team of 4 interns for a month

- Independently developed a hospital inventory data visualization app for staff use using Swift
- Implemented a test suite for said app using Quick and XCTest providing ~90% of code-coverage
- Pre-processed and aggregated inventory data in SQL Server to create API endpoints for said app in ASP.NET
Highlight:
The prototype app was demoed and commended at the annual IGNITE conference and the HNPN Research Conference.
- Replaced in-person client deployment practice to a remotely automated and version-controlled service using Puppet
- Reduced overexposure error on the image processing platform in Python significantly improving accuracy
- Reduced lighting error on the video analytics platform in Python improving indoor person-detect accuracy
Highlight:
My understanding of the CLI, the build process and macros vastly improved during this work term. Vim still manages to elude me though :)
